Another day

Posted by 公園印

Well, just keeping you updated. Over at HaKT Studios, I've added a gallery, forums, download center, and link center. We are featuring syntax highlighting for most programming/scripting languages. Just trying to provide an overall good experience for developers and hackers alike. Hopefully we'll get some more people soon. Not that membership is slow. I've already gotten several new subscribers in my first day and a half. I'm around 23 members now. Boards are filling out nicely. go have a look -->

Haven't posted in a few days

Yeah, your not going to see very many posts from me over the next couple weeks as finals approach. I'm going to be busy as all hell, and this blog will probably be the furthest thing from my mind. I'm sure everything will pick up during spring break and get to some sort of normal posting habit.

Looking for a good SVN interface

Posted by 公園印

Well, I'm looking for a good SVN interface for my website. I found plenty, however, I can not run them. I need something that uses PHP. All the ones I found utilize services that my server currently doesn't provide. Well, that's pretty much it for now. I'll post again later with updates.

EHCP: Revisited

Posted by 公園印

Well, I revisited EHCP, and I'll tell you what, it's not easy. It's workable, but it does some things with the home directories that I do not like. You can't place any code outside the webroot. I am not sure if this is adjustable or not, I did not stick around to find out. I went ahead and found the support forum to find out how to remove it, as it did not come with an uninstaller. I wanted to remove it in such a way as to not destroy my system. Anyway, I get to the site, and lo and behold, the instructions are there. I follow them and remove it with copy/paste precision. It removed half my OS. Yes, turns out that a lot of other applications were dependant on the ones I removed, and all I was running was a clean install. I had no idea what depended on what. When it was done, even my xterm was gone. Yeah, you could say that this is a software that I won't be recommending to my friends.

EHCP - Easy Hosting Control Panel

Posted by 公園印

Well, I was out and about, looking into free open source hosting control panels when I ran into EHCP. The first thing I noticed was that there was a demo page for it, so obviously I used it. I logged in, and went to the server statistics page. Much to my amazement, this software - which is written for Debian based systems - was running on a Windows XP server.

Firefox

Well, it turns out the bug was a result of the rpm-build. I installed Ubuntu on another 64-bit machine, and it does not have the same issues. Seems like Red Hat based distro's are just having troubles all around.
